What Is Graphic Design For?: Type and Image- Idlewild.

A simple yet cleverly executed design by designer Dustin Summers for Edingburugh-based Scottish rock band 'Idlewild'.

Summers combined digital and traditional techniques to create this interesting logo image a bold, yet also child-like style with a paint thumb print to represent the leaves on the tree.

Quite interesting, and I like the method of delivery and the simple methods used to create the design- though I feel it could be a little more design-focused and representative of the band- it doesn't communicate what they are about, and doesn't give the viewer any real ideas of the sort of music they create.

Good potential but I feel a better outcome could have been made (not necessarily through the fault of the designer, but perhaps the client themselves).

Image and information sourced through the book 'Illusive: Contemporary illustration and it's context'.
