Design Practice III//Negotiated Briefs//University of Leeds Ballet Society Information.

As one of my ten negotiated briefs for Design Practice III, I hope to effectively brand and promote the University of Leeds ballet society, and the performances that they participate in throughout the year(s). Initially, I contacted the society President, Carys, after a search for local ballet schools, and was delighted to find one so close as well as appearing so popular (often with classes filling up very quickly and a long waiting list), so I should, hopefully, have lots of opportunities to meet with the girls and develop the brief to it's full potential.

Below is a little more insight and information from the society homepage website, as linked and sourced below.

"We are sorry to announce that all classes are completely full with long waiting lists. If you wish to be added to a waiting list then email your details to us, however please note we cannot guarantee a place will become available.

Welcome to the Leeds University Union Ballet Society. We are a society open to all with an interest in ballet, whether you wish to improve your technique or just have fun whilst keeping fit and making new friends. We cater for all standards, from complete beginners to an advanced level. Our classes take place in the dance studio at Stage@Leeds, and are run by professional teachers, It's up to you which class you join, there are NO auditions!!

We run four separate classes once a week:

BEGINNERS
INTERMEDIATE 1 - Grades 3/4
INTERMEDIATE 2 - Grades 5/6
ADVANCED - Grades 7/8+
(or equivalent)

THIS YEAR in semester 1 there will be the option of an additional pointe class. Should this not gain enough interest we will change this to a competition class!

This year we want to get more social! As well as the obligatory nights out, we’re planning some alternative socials from meals to film nights to ice skating to theme parks days out, theatre trips etc. We’re open to any and all suggestions so just email!

The Ballet Society takes part in the LUU Dance Show at the end of the Easter term. This is a really great way to get involved in the Union, do something a bit different and meet people from all the other dance societies. You don't have to take part in the dance show if you don't want to, it's your choice.

Places on classes are given on a first come first serve basis, and our classes WILL fill up! To ensure a place make sure you turn up early to the Freshers Fair to sign up!

UPDATE: This year you can find us at the EDGE SPORTS HALL on the 18th and 19th of September from 10am!!!

Unfortunately we are unable to reserve places ahead of term, however we do have a waiting list, so please sign up anyway!

A breakdown of costs for semester 1 and 2 are soon to follow however, membership over the year entitles you to 22 classes which works out to be about only £2 a class!!!

PLEASE DO NOT BUY MEMBERSHIP UNLESS YOU HAVE RECIEVED AN EMAIL OF CONFIRMATION FROM THE SOCIETY!!

We look forward to starting again in September, see you all at the Fresher's Fair!

Any enquiries please email Carys (President), Natasha (Secretary) or Stephanie (Treasurer) at luuballet@hotmail.com"
