Along with the original 'Singin' in the Rain' posters, I also decided to take a look at more general 1950's posters for inspiration for my own design developments for the D&AD/Rain brief- looking particularly at the composition/layout, image and type used throughout. I really like the bold, high-impact drama that the posters are so famous for, that are so attention-grabbing and memorably- largely, in my opinion, due to the bold, hand-rendered type which is so well associated with the golden age of Hollywood, and a style that I would love to potentially go on to use within my own design outcome (time permitting)- some truly great designs.
