Belgium is commonly regarded as a nation of "gourmands" as opposed to "gourmets", where the big cuisine comes before fine dining- with "the quality of French food, and the portions of German".

Most famous national foods of Belgium include:

* Frieten/Frites
* Sauces- mayonnaise as standard
* Wit/Blonde beer
* Chocolate
* Moules frites (Mussels and chips)
* Belgian Waffle
