Nan Goldin is an American Photographer, largely famed for her contreversial and incredibly intimate photographic collection, 'The Ballad of Sexual Dependency'- whereupon pictures depict and glamourise hard drug use, sexual intimacy, and domestic violence- often through Goldin's personal experiences, and the vast majortity of her subjects had passed away within the next twenty years (by 1990's)- largely due to drug overdoses or AIDS related illnesses.
New York Times credited Goldin's work in 2003 when they described her as having "forged a genre, with photography as influential as any in the last twenty years".
