Design Practice III//Negotiated Briefs//Orange Juice Cover Designs.

As part of the research towards the potential design development of the (negotiated brief) hypothetical promotional design of the reunion tour of 1980's nu-wave/indie-rock band, 'Orange Juice', I decided to look at their past design influence in the way of single and CD covers, particularly to see any consistent styles chosen or influence in the way of branding.

Looking at the range of designs and images (shown above and below on this post) it is, of course, clear that the designs are certainly of a certain era of music and design, with little consistency or visual communication links between them, which, in many ways, is a clear benefit to me in the way of a clean slate and new beginning in the branding design- perhaps taking influence from a few of the existing design style/typeface specifications and using them to create a far more modern and contemporary design outcome that will appeal to both Orange Juice's existing, and new (potential) fan base.
