To the rents - when they ask me about drunken night out shinangans!

Sometimes depends if their being figity/not making eye contact/ or you can just tell things dont add up

4. What do you think makes someone look obvious when lying?

figiting, lack of eye contact

5. Do you feel guilty after lying?

Sometimes depends who it too, and why i did it

1. Yes but in a comical sort of way.
2. Usually my lies consist of hiding something that belongs to my flat mate emily and pretending it grew legs and walked away. So no serious lies really!
3. Usually pretty good yeah because either their story just doesn't add up or they laugh whilst or after telling the lie.
4. Usually the look on their face.

1. Would you say you frequently lie?
no

2. What are the lies you normally tell about? What scenarios cause you to lie?
To my parents, telling them I've done something when I haven't, or more likely that I haven't done something that I actually have

3. Do you think you are good at spotting someone lying? If yes, why?
Sort of, if I know them well, their mannerisms usually change

4. What do you think makes someone look obvious when lying?
When they start playing with their hair or something, or start looking to the left

5. Do you feel guilty after lying?
Sometimes, it depends what I've lied about

1. Would you say you frequently lie? No

2. What are the lies you normally tell about? What scenarios cause you to lie? Don't like lying, but will tell the odd white lie 2 my son, e.g if he won't go to bed I tell him his toys want to go to sleep (not really a lie but u get the jist of it lol)

3. Do you think you are good at spotting someone lying? If yes, why?
Yes, caught out plenty of lies.

4. What do you think makes someone look obvious when lying? most people will look at the floor when they lie or get a bit too carried away with the story and make it obvious or their story will keep changeing, like minor details that you remember but they change them.

5. Do you feel guilty after lying? If I actually tell a lie then yes I do.

1. No.
2. The only lies I tend to tell are when it would hurst someone's feelings if i was truthful.
3. I can usually tell when my boys are avoiding the truth as they don't look me in the eyes or if I question them they can't keep a straight face.
4. I also think bad liars tend to pause before they answer.
5. Not if it was for the greater good!

1. Would you say you frequently lie? YES/NO

Yes, but only because i'm constantly giving excuses

2. What are the lies you normally tell about? What scenarios cause you to lie?

Those excuses being why I'm late or absent (from either work or college) - The best ways out are "family problems", "asthma" or the classic "I have diarrhoea"

3. Do you think you are good at spotting someone lying? If yes, why?

No, I'm incredibly gullible - My tutor once said "Did you know there's a syndrome where you have to dye your hair at least 4 times a year else you will die", I believed him until he started laughing and proceeded to say I don't need to dye my hair. I told him to be ginger for a day and then tell me that.

4. What do you think makes someone look obvious when lying?

As Joey off F.R.I.E.N.D.S once said "well I was minding my own business when... a raccoon came in and stole all the pizza!" - So yeah, anything that sounds incredibly unrealistic. Much like how 'cigarette burn in arm guy who sat by us at the beacon' was obviously lying when he said he was a "player" :p

5. Do you feel guilty after lying?

It depends who im lying to, which is quite often people I don't care for, so nah, I feel no remorse whatsoever. I'm a bitch.

1. No, I avoid it as much as possible.
2.i normally lie to myself becasue i always say ill do something but never do
3.yeah im fairly good at telling if someones lying its just a 6th sense that i can read people
4.their eyes and body language. usually their skin tone changes
5.yes... if i didnt i think id be a bad person

1 - no
2 - in scenarios where I am being sarcastic because its funny when people dont get it.
3 - yes but depending who it is
4 - I couldnt really say, when its a mate you just know
5 - yes but obviously depends on the lie

1. No
2. I only tend to lie to annoy someone, or make a joke.
3. Ha, yeah. It's always blatantly obvious.
4. There story never seems to make sense and it normally comes after someone else has already mentioned something in a conversation, or it's just a ridiculous thing to say.
5. Well I guess if you didn't, you'd be a bad person.

1. Would you say you frequently lie? YES/NO
YES

2. What are the lies you normally tell about? What scenarios cause you to lie?
Usually my opinions of people if I feel they won't benefit/don't need to know, scenarios are usually to do with the sake of civility... Unless I'm drunk or agitated.

3. Do you think you are good at spotting someone lying? If yes, why?
I would say I was average, I can tell when someones smile is fake though, which is a type of lie I suppose, and that's because of studying psychology. Usually the way I can tell if someone is lying is through seeing how the subject came about, and how they express themselves to others about the same subject.

4. What do you think makes someone look obvious when lying?
Nervous disposition, and the eyes, anything that's quite irregular/shifting. Also the speed of speech.

5. Do you feel guilty after lying?
Rarely, unless I'm lying about something I should feel guilty for, then the guilt of lying increases the guilt of the original action.

Question asked (via Yahoo Answers US)...

"
What makes someone a good liar?
What do you think it takes for someone to be a good or effective liar? How do they get away with it?
"

-Creativity and good acting skills
-Not getting caught makes someone a good liar

Someone who can fake sincerity, and keeps their lie very close to the truth. In short, they're just really good actors.

by making people believe your telling the truth(pretty much acting)...which involves no laughing ,giggling, even smirking, and looking the person/people directly into theirs eyes while telling a complete and utter LIE!...a good liar is someone who makes their lies believable ....most good liars are psychopaths anyways or sociopaths ....bbecausethey have no cconscience.

A good lair is someone who is good at convincing someone that something is true when it is not true, they understand what makes others trust them, they are good actors and think out their lie before they orchestrate it. They get away with it for that very reason, they are good at it.,

I believe that the person has to have a psychopathy. Compulsive liars don't have to act or be good at it, they just are liars all the time.

Well, i'm kinda a good liar.. Why? 'Cause you must PLAN! keyword plan plan plan, make sure you always have a back up plan think through the questions they might ask, or what they might say and always have an answer. Never studder make them believe this is your story and its legit.

Someone who really believes his/her own lies.

body language needs to stay the same as you would be just having a coversation
the lie needs to be beleivable
confidence
practise
and finally a strong pokerface
:))) hav fun with your lie you planning, thats what i assume you are planning !!!

they dont own a concience

The urge to make sense

if they can tell a good story and not look to the left cuz thats wut liars do

a good actress or actor

Firstly, you need a good memory to be able to remember what you said.
Secondly, you need to learn about body language and be able to use it in such a way that it doesn't contradict what you are saying.

I've never met a "successful" liar in my entire life and I'm willing to bet I'm a hell of a lot older than you.

Someone is a good liar if they can trick the people they are lying to into thinking they would never do such a thing and are Innocent. The liar had to be stealthy and act nonchalant. They get away with lying by showing little or no symptoms of lying.

a good memory

they aren't strong enough to tell the truth

good to make lies the truth

Every good lie should have an element of truth in it so that the liar can always fall back on it and build again from that.

I was really pleased with the vast numbers, and variety of feedback and answers I recieved from the general public, fellow students and friends and family- however, it was the comparisons in the answers that I was most intriuged with, and think that these key points could really help for the development of our project and understanding our audience, tone of voice, and development of content and message...

-Many people do not (or claim not to!) lie, unless for situations where people will be made/kept happy- lieing for unselfish reasons.
-Usually lie about little things, not particularly important but could avoid arguments/confrontations.
-Very recpetive to body language and behaviour- the major give away when someone is lieing.
-Feel guilt from lying.
