What Is Graphic Design For?: Image- The Darjeeling Limited.

I really like the graphic novel, bold illustrative style of Texas-based illustrator and print maker, Tim Doyle. The silkscreen fan image depicts a film from Wes Anderson's 'The Darjeeling Limited' as one of the main characters takes a leap onto the moving train- a definative scene at the beginning of this remarkably thought-provoking and moving film.

The picture was exhibited at Spoke Art's "Bad Dads: A tribute to Wes Anderson" show in San Franscisco, and shows a variety of works inspired by film- with other exhbitions including tributes to Tarantino and The Coen Brothers.

I like the bold, comic book style of Doyle's illustration- the heavy shadowing creating motion and movement- great proof that illustration CAN be graphic design with image alone.
